Visual &
Performing Arts

Oak Grove approaches all learning as an art form through The Art of Living & Learning. One of these arts - The Art of Aesthetics - particularly speaks to developing within each student sensitivity to and appreciation of beauty in all its manifestations. All students, regardless of their self-perception, are encouraged and supported to find the artist within by participating in a rich array of extracurricular opportunities available in fine arts, music and drama. Junior High students take both fine and performing art as part of the school day.
ART: Drawing, printmaking, painting, ceramics, and textile work are just some of the art mediums explored. Academic and art teachers work closely to integrate projects that have both an academic and art component.
MUSIC: All junior high students study music, either instrumental or vocal and the curriculum is performance-oriented. Students learn aspects of music appreciation, history, theory, and technique directly related to performance pieces. In accordance with National Standards of Music Education, Oak Grove aims to offer students a broad exploration of music across various genres and historical periods. Students at this age have the option to specialize on an instrument, and they practice and perform in small ensembles, showcasing their work both at school and in the community.
DRAMA: Oak Grove proudly partners with Theater 150 in Ojai for an intensive dramatic production in the fall and are invited to audition for the high school drama production in the spring.
